Camcraft Monthly Newsletter by Charles Reichard, Editor July 1, 1999 Editor: Charles Reichard http://www.camcraftcams.com
Dear Customers, Its hard to believe June is gone already. It seems May was only yesterday. Business seems to be good in all sectors of the After market and all sections of the country. Everybody is busy. Life is good! Weve had a fair amount of rain lately but despite my admonitions it did fall on the grass so well be cutting grass again soon. I guess everything cant be perfect. We continue to have a few problems with customers using our answering service. One problem is people speaking so rapidly that we can hardly understand them. This is particularly aggravating when it comes to phone numbers. Please be sure to speak a little more slowly when leaving phone numbers. It is also very helpful if you leave your number even when you know we have it on file so we dont have to look it up. It will make for a quicker return call. If you let us know what you need when you call then we can probably call with an answer rather than a "what do you need" question that may require some research and another call back. The other problem is people who listen to the whole message and hang up after the beep. We use a phone company provided service so you can leave a message even if both our lines are busy You can tell by the message if someone is there but on the phone. It is fine if you dont want to leave a message but when you wait for the tone to hang up it costs us money each time to listen to the click. If you dont want to leave a message please hang up when you get the recording. Once the service picks up we cannot answer the phone. We can only retrieve the message a minute or so later. We are looking for pictures of our customers cars to put on our web site. Particularly in the case of circle track cars, they dont have to be of the car when it was new. We all know these cars get beat up a lot and nobody expects a trailer queen. Weve had some trouble with our scanner recently which I hope to work out this weekend so we will have a few new pictures up next week. I have compiled a list of low lift profiles we have available. If you build restricted lift engines (up to .420 lift with 1.5 rockers) and would like a copy, Just ask and we will fax or send you one. It also has our new .390 roller profiles and several new flat tappet profiles as well as several profiles we plan to do in the near future. More new profiles We have added 3 more roller profiles to our list. They are all .390 lobe lift with durations of 266, 270, and 274 degrees. Below is a list of our new .390 lift roller profiles to date. We will add a 258 and a 278 soon. Continued: New .390 lift roller profiles 7/1/99
Winners: Steve Drummond continued his winning ways last month. He won Super Gas both days at the East Coast Doorslammers Nationals at Maryland International Raceway in Buds Creek, Maryland. He is really on a roll lately. I also incorrectly reported him as runner up in the Quick 8 at US 13 Dragway on April 18th. He actually won the Quick 8 and Super Pro that day. Scott Little of Complete Auto Machine, Dora, AL. picked up another win in his #21 Mini Modified Toyota at Birmingham International Speedway. He was closely followed by Johnny Rotenberry in the #8 car with a Toyota engine built by Scott. These two racers frequently have 1-2 finishes in this class. Dan Pogorzala of Pogo Machine in Tonawanda, NY has a winner in Rich Sennet at Ransomville Speedway who has won 5 of 9 features in the Super Stock class. Hollywood Machine in Richmond, VA reports that Bubba Flexon #16 Enduro car has 1 win at Southside Speedway in Richmond, VA and 2 wins at South Hampton Speedway in Capron, VA. John Eversole continues to dominate the Grand Stock class at Southside Speedway with 7 wins and at South Hampton with 3 wins.
Alan Holmes of Lincoln County Auto Parts recently built a Ford motor for his Open Wheel car at Winchester Speedway. This came about after having 2 engines claimed in 2 weeks. He decided the next person to claim his motor was going to have to spend some time and money to get it in their car. He won again the first night out with his Ford. Remember, If youre not running a Camcraft cam then youre probably following one! Thank you all for your support. Yours truly,
Charles, Harriett, Clarence, Debra, & Chuck
