Camcraft Newsletter
January 1, 2001
Editor: Charles Reichard
Dear
customers,
Christmas holidays are but a memory and a New Year is upon us. We had a
great holiday here at home for the first time in seven years. Victoria came home
from college and Betty & Stan came up from Ashville. It was nice not to have
to go anywhere for a change.
December has been a very busy month for us as well as many of our
customers. While December has never been among our worst months, it is usually
well below average. This has been the best December in many years. We have heard
a lot about a slowdown in the economy but if this is a preview of 2001 then
let’s get on with the show.
Don’t miss a chance to try out our newest hydraulic profiles in your mild street engines. These cams have extremely short seat timing, which promotes higher cylinder pressure, better throttle response, more torque and better fuel economy. Check the comparison between our 202H280 and the Isky 256 Supercam.

We will be adding other new profiles soon. We will have some new roller
ramp designs that will permit extremely high rpm with very high ratio rockers
while offering the utmost in valve train stability. Initial designs will
encompass 254 to 268 duration @ .050 with .410 lobe lift. We already have 280
& 284 with .420 lobe lift. There will be some new flat tappet designs added
as well. They will primarily be in the 240 to 250 degree range.
Why fool with the rest? Go with the best. If we don’t make what you
need we deal with someone who does.
Rocker arm spacers:
We
will offer aluminum spacers to replace the springs that separate the rocker
arms. We hope to have them in stock within 45 days or less. Check our web site
for up to date information
We are trying to have some 1.55 or 1.6 ratio rockers made for the 2.9L
engine. We expect this to take 3 to 5 months before we have any parts to sell.
The stock 1.47 ratio rockers pretty heavily handicap this engine. These rockers
will not be race pieces but rather stock type with improved ratio as most Bronco
& Ranger owners are interested in low rpm power. Our target price will be
under $150.00 for a full set of rocker arms only. Check our web site to keep
abreast of progress on this project.
Reground Cranks:
We should have an inventory of reground cranks within a few weeks. They
will be on the web site when we get them. The company grinding them for us has
done work for Q101 authorized Ford Rebuilders and does a really super job. They
will be shot blasted, Magnafluxed, and oil holes chamfered.
Remember we stock 2.9L engine kits, rebuilt connecting rods, Valves, Valve Springs, Valve locks, rocker arms, etc.
This is the time of year when we reflect on the year past and review our
mistakes, misfortunes, and our successes. We had our ups and downs this year,
especially with our remodeling and working short handed the first part of the
year. Over all 2000 was a good year for us and we want to take this opportunity
to thank all of you that contributed to our success. We are a company that
relies on many small customers with repeat business rather than several large
customers. All of you are important
to us.
We thank you all for your continued support.
Yours Truly,
Charles, Harriett, Clarence & Chuck
