Camcraft
Newsletter January 1, 2000 Editor: Charles Reichard www.camcraftcams.com Dear
Customers,
Christmas has passed and I hope you all had a pleasant holiday. We had an
enjoyable Christmas with our daughter Betty Jean in Asheville, NC. Our younger
daughter, Victoria, has been accepted at Elon College in Elon, NC so it looks
like we’ll be spending more time in that state. I’m looking forward to it. The new millennium is here (or will be next year according to many people) and we look to the New Year with great anticipation. 1999 was a very good year for us and we see better things ahead. We have started the new year with all computers functioning normally. Y2K has been the biggest non-event of the century. We are adding new products and services in the coming year. The most significant will be Nitrous Oxide systems. In addition to having complete systems available we will have parts for most popular systems as well as a refill service in house. We will announce our major supplier in the next newsletter but we will offer parts for most major systems like NOS, Nitrous Works, and Compucar. We are waiting for test results on a new filling station from Nitrous Works before buying our station. We should be up and running by the first of February at the latest. We
will have some new designs available the first of the year in our flat tappet
series. More roller designs will follow. We will also have new catalog sheets
for valve springs and roller rockers. These will be on our web site this month
and may be downloaded from there. Look for “Parts
Department.”
Copies
will be available from us on request but we hope people will primarily get these
from our web site. The web site will always have the most up to date information
available since I can post it myself as soon as it is available. On
the racing front, we will have a new driver for the 2000 season. His name is Al
Miller from Grasonville, MD. We will campaign Al’s small Block Chevy Dragster
as well as our Monza. He most recently won a race at the Moroso 5 day Bracket
Races at West Palm Beach, FL. He likes to travel so look for us at the Virginia
Tracks as well as some of the IHRA National and Divisional events in North
Carolina and Maryland. Our
power for the new Millennium will be a 383 cubic inch Small Block Chevy prepared
by L & M Engines in Hatboro, PA. We
hope to have over 600 hp from this combination. They did our very successful
Small Block Modified engine a few years ago. We ran 9.30s last year with a 370
and hope to get below 9.20s this year. We are looking at potential 5.80s
@118 mph in the 1/8 mile. In
preparation for the new year we are doing some reorganizing and remodeling. If
anyone has any suggestion or comments on ways we can improve our service, they
are welcome. We try to make improvements to our service as we go so don’t
hesitate to tell us what we can do to improve our service to you. We
are planning to have an open house the last part of March or early April. We
will have a car show featuring race cars as well as antique cars and street
rods, possible seminars, and equipment demonstrations. A more definite date will
be in the next newsletter. You
all have contributed to making 1999 one of our best years in recent history. W e
are excited about the coming year.
Thank you for your support. Yours
truly, Charles,
Harriett, Clarence, & Chuck |
