Dear Customers,
The end of the racing season is here and somehow we are still fairly busy. Business seems to be spotty right now. Some people are busy; others are about dead in the water. I think sponsors have been hard to find for most racers and that has affected their budget.
Exciting things are happening at Camcraft. Our new Sunnen Tappet grinder has finally arrived and will be operational by the time you read this. It will greatly improve our accuracy and will allow us to start grinding racing lifters to a closer tolerance than new ones. Our trusty old Webb tappet grinder will go to Northstar machine for a complete rebuild.
We have recently acquired our third Berco cam grinder. It should be in place and operational by the middle of this month. It will give us much more flexibility for special projects.
It has come to our attention that every SK Modified race at Stafford Speedway was won by engines built by Performance Engines or Pettit Racing Engines using Camcraft cams. Congratulations to Billy the kid and Mike Pettit. In addition to their Championships listed below, Performance Engines had the top 3 points leaders in SK Modified at Stafford and the Top 5 points positions in Late Model at Thompson Speedway. Camcraft is proud to have played a part in the successful year these two noted engine builders enjoyed in 2002. This is what makes this business so much fun.
Don’t forget we have a new series of .904 lobes for Chryslers. They are designated XTLC. They feature 27 degrees major intensity and reduced peak positive acceleration on the closing side. We have covered durations from 234 to 256 @.050 every 2 degrees. These profiles have moderate lift with generous nose radius to permit high ratio rockers without excessive cam loading. They were also designed to maintain an acceptable nose radius even on small block Chevy size lobes. We are holding off on getting the masters made in order to get a feel for what people think they will use so we don’t have to buy them all at once.
Below are the track champions we know about and are permitted to talk about. There are at least 4 more we can’t mention. Many engine builders as well as racers keep their source of cams a closely guarded secret.

We are embarking on a program to develop a cam for the 2.3L DOHC Ford Duratec engine. We are also going to have a ported cylinder head similar to our Powermax head for the 2.9L Ford. Look for something by Jan 1st. Work has already begun on this project.
In addition we are going to offer ported heads for the 3.0L Ford if we can find some cores, and mild HP cams for the late 2.5L Ford.
Stay tuned to our web site and newsletters for the latest news from Camcraft.
As always, we thank you for your support.
Yours truly,
Charles, Harriett, Clarence, Chuck & Johnny
