Camcraft Newsletter

Dear Customers,
It looks like fall is really upon us now. There’s frost on the pumpkins and a real nip in the early morning air. I get to feel that nip as I walk to the YMCA nearby at 6:00 AM to workout 3 times a week. I think I’ll be driving in a few more weeks. This is a new activity for me and I hope I can keep it up. So far so good.
We have still remained busy despite the ending of the racing season. There has been a flurry of activity among people wanting to try something new in hopes of getting a jump on next year as well as those preparing for the last big races of the season. Many of our race engine builders are reporting customers already bringing engines in to be freshened for next year. This year people are bringing their engines in a lot earlier than usual.
Thanksgiving schedule;
We will be closed the 22nd and 23 for the holiday. We will be open again Monday the 26th for business as usual.
We have had good success with our carburetor program. We are distributor for AED, & Reed. We stock most everything you need in the way of jets, power valves, Gaskets, quick change spring kits for vacuum secondary carbs, Electric fuel pump parts and modified carburetors. Our AED HO series 650 and 750 Holley carbs are only about $70.00 more than the cheapest mail order stock carbs and these are custom calibrated, choke horn milled off, and have a laminated card with jet sizes, air bleed sizes etc. They also come with an instruction sheet to help you fine tune it to your engine
Always check our web site for the latest up to date information on new products and services. Whenever we have something new it is posted to our site. It has regular additions sometimes weekly and our monthly newsletter is usually up by the 1st week in every month.
Below are the specs for our new HCR hydraulic profiles. They have received rave reviews from all who have used them except a few people who said the idle is too smooth. Torque, throttle response and fuel economy are very good. It is possible to use a larger .050 duration and closer lobe separation than many other manufacturers due to the very short .004 duration. This is especially critical on some late model fuel injected engines that need a high vacuum signal to the computer. Many have reported good success using 1.6 and even 1.7 ratio rockers on the intake. In fact we have decided that 1.5 rockers on the intake side is WRONG for almost any flat tappet cam, hydraulic or mechanical.
HCR series lobe specs.

Less overlap = higher vacuum which results in smoother idle, better throttle response, more low end torque and better fuel economy.
Don’t take a chance on confusing your computer, install a new Camcraft cam and feel the power yourself. “Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
We have quite a few antique cam cores we would like to grind and say goodbye to. Below is a partial listing.
Flathead Ford 8BA and 21A; about 20 pieces
Ford V8 60 about 10 pieces
Studebaker V8 about 12 pieces
Model T about 8 pieces some have cam bearings
Model A about 6 pieces
Packard V12 about 3 pieces
Lincoln V12 about 3 pieces
Early Chev. 4 cyl about 3 pieces
AMC 283-327 V8 3 pieces
If you have an interest in any of these call for pricing. We would prefer grinding these rather than selling cores except for the Ford V8-60 cams that we have no suitable masters to use.
As always we thank you for your support. We wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.
Yours truly,
Charles, Harriett, Clarence, Cookie, & Chuck
