Charles Reichard www.camcraftcams.com Dear Customers, The terrible events of September 11th will haunt us for a long time. I pray our leaders will be able to bring the terrorists to justice without the loss of innocent lives. The effects have already been felt here in Easton as a local firm laid off 16% of its work force due to a 40% drop in orders from the airlines. They sell many consumable commodities like pillowcases, headrest covers, washcloths, hand lotions, disinfectants and such, exclusively to all the major airlines. It’s hard to tell who’ll feel it next.
We just returned from parents weekend at Elon University where we got to meet lots of our daughter’s friends and their parents as well as check out her new living accommodations. We were pleased with everything.
While we were there we
checked out nearby Piedmont Dragway. Boy were we impressed. It is without a
doubt one of the nicest dragstrips we have visited. Everything was clean and
painted, wide paved road with no potholes, and the PA system could be heard
everywhere. I was told that in real hot weather they even have somebody going
around giving out FREE ice cream. Their current big thing is the Big Dog
Shootout. It is for street legal cars with few other rules other than safety
concerns. Piedmont is an IHRA sanctioned track and last year was voted IHRA
small track of the year. If you’re in the Greensboro- Burlington area check
them out. Their website is piedmontdragway.com. The site is currently being
updated and may not always work. We have added 2 more profiles to our popular HCR series of street hydraulic profiles. They are 218@.050 268@.004 with .300 lobe lift, and 222@.050 272@.004 with .307 lobe lift. Keep in mind that with many generic profiles, a 204/214 @.050duration cam will be 270/280 @ .004. With our profiles a 210/218 @.050 will be 260/268 @.004. The result is better idle, quicker throttle response, better fuel economy, and you can run a bigger .050 duration so you have much more mid range and top end power. Winners
& Champions
Hollywood Machine, Richmond, VA, reports that Ray Ashworth in the #10 Grand Stock car owned by Ray Watson won the track championship at Southside Speedway in Richmond, VA. He posted 7 wins for the year and set the track record at 14.702 seconds. Billy Brooks in the #57 car was second in points in Grand Stock. He had 2 wins. At Southampton Speedway in Capron, VA Steve Zuskin, in the # 71 Grand Stock, also with a Hollywood engine, set a new track record of 16.103 seconds. He had 6 wins this year. Dan Porgorzala of Pogo Machine in Lockport, NY reports that Jason Boyle in the #44 Dirt series Pro Stock car has won the track championship at Canandaiqua Speedway in NY. Jipper Ortez finished 4th in points. Jason also finished 2nd in points at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY. in the Pro Stock class. Ronnie Presswood OF R.P. Racing Engines in Lenoir, NC reports the following Late Model Stock Track Champions. Jamie Yelton #8 at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, NC, Mark Setzer # 84 at Hickory Speedway in Hickory, NC, and Pete Silva # 01 at Greenville Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC. Pete was also voted most popular driver at Greenville Pickens. The ironic thing about Pete is that his shop is a few hundred feet from my daughter’s house in Ashville, NC. She has been talking us up to him for several years and he’s been using our cams all along but didn’t know it. Darryll Diamond of Diamond Enterprises reports that Shane Huffman in the #84 Hooters Pro Cup car had a recent win at Jennerstown, Speedway in Jennerstown, PA. Shane is currently leading in the Hooters Cup points race.
The great success of our new SXTL series of flat tappet cams has created a demand for a low lift version for high rocker ratios and lift rule applications. We will probably do a few profiles around .3166 or .3200. We may do some new .390/.410 lift hydraulic profiles as we do many of those cams and want to upgrade that part of our program. We are also considering a few profiles in our TMRX series for high rpm high rocker ratio applications like Busch Grand National. Take
giant step toward the winner’s circle. Join
the Camcraft team!
As always we thank you for
your support. Yours
truly, Charles,
