Dear Customers,
Summer is now here. Most schools are
closed and all racetracks are open. Warm weather is finally here to stay. Now
instead of that heating oil, we have to pay for all the extra power to run air
conditioners and fans.
Beginning
June 1st we will be closing at 2:00 pm on Fridays. We will work
extra hours during the week to make up for the lost time. Since most customers
want their parts in hand by Friday this will let us do this more often. It will
also give our employees a few extra hours on the weekends to beat heavy traffic
out of town. Please advise the appropriate people of this change.
Our Monza should hit the strip in
a couple of weeks. The paint job should be complete this week. The Cream color
is done and all that’s left is the orange and purple. It really looks good so
far. We have lots to do before we head to the track but it looks like we can
start this weekend. Look for pictures on the web site soon.
Many of you
are already aware of the lifter situation that has existed for the last couple
of months and started last year. Last year Eaton decided abruptly to cease
manufacture of all flat lifters. Stanadyne and Johnson took up the slack pretty
well. A few weeks ago Johnson closed their doors. This leaves us with 1 lifter
supplier for all flat lifters. This means the days of really cheap lifters are
gone and are now replaced by higher prices and a bit of a shortage. Our cost on SB Chevy solid lifters has gone
up 3 times this year. Retrofit hydraulic roller lifters have been in very short
supply since about last November. SB Chevy solid lifters are in short supply
today. Our inventory is in pretty good shape right now but we have turned down
requests for tray quantities from people who don’t regularly buy lifter from
us. Don’t count on last year’s prices being good this year.
