Dear Customers,
We are 3 months into 2006 and we have had a very busy 1st quarter. While most of it is hardcore racing business, We are getting a lot of industrial cams to grind as well. Many tracks have had their first practice session and everyone seems happy with their performance level. Racing starts next week so we’ll see what happens then. We have also done a brisk business with our antique performance cams.
Ronnie Geaman, a former employee, has returned so we will have another grinder operator full time. This should help immensely in faster delivery. He is a productive grinder operator and we look forward to his contribution to our output.
We have changed our roller lifter supplier to Morel. Morel makes top quality roller lifters and they are available in a wider variety of diameters and pushrod offsets. They are available with pressure oiling. They also have replacement hydraulic roller lifters as well as retrofit hydraulic rollers. We have much of our initial inventory in place.
Antique Performance cam catalog
We now have a catalog devoted to Antique Performance Cams. They are selling briskly. Call or e-mail for your copy. It is now on our web site. All cams listed are ground on new castings and include flathead Fords, all Nailhead Buicks, Poly 318 Chryslers, 56-64 Olds 324, 371 and 394, Y Block Fords, 270 & 302 GMC, and many more. Some of these castings are only available through Camcraft. We prefer to send via e-mail. Just ask! charles@camcraftcams.com. Be sure to put something appropriate in the subject line, like Antique cam catalog, or it may get deleted. They are in Microsoft Excel format. We have a limited supply of printed catalogs for the Computer / internet challenged individuals. We also stock many new factory performance profiles. We also have 1.6 ratio rocker arm assemblies for 318 Poly Engines. We will also offer 3 of the factory mechanical 348 & 409 cams soon. They are the 348 Duntov 350 hp cam, the 409 hp Mark IV, the 425 hp Mark VI. Get yours soon.
We have said it before and here it is again. We cannot grind cams with gears on them except D-8 Cats. Many of those have gears made on the shaft and they are not very big. The price to remove gears will not be reasonable and will delay your job at least a day or two. You wouldn’t send a crank out to be ground with the flywheel on it so please don’t send your cam with a gear on it. It also makes it more difficult to package for shipping. Be sure to keep all removable parts in your shop. We don’t want to be responsible for them.
