Dear Customers,

With Speedweek and the Daytona 500 behind us the 2007 racing season is officially underway. While many areas have another month or two before their tracks open, excitement is high and people are preparing for opening day. Despite the questionable economy and the crate motor controversy, everyone seems fairly busy.

The Reichards have some great news to share with our friends. Betty & Stan are expecting a baby in September. We are all excited. She has 2 close friends from Easton who live on the Outer Banks and near Sarasota, FL who are also expecting. Their due dates are all within a few days of each other. I guess we’re old enough to be grandparents now.

Please note that UPS shipping rates have increased and that the insurance rates have increased even more significantly. Insurance up to several hundred dollars has increased more significantly than higher amounts. Shipping to a residence has always been higher but UPS has been more vigilant in charging back the difference if we ship using business rates. The difference is not always whether you are a business but whether you are in or even adjacent to a residential neighborhood.

Harriett and I recently attended the Antique Automobile Club Of America annual meeting in Philadelphia on Feb 9th and 10th. We had a booth in their trade show and I did a seminar on How to Increase the Efficiency of Your Antique Engine. The seminar was very well attended. For those of you not seeking out these restoration jobs, you are missing a good thing. Quality is most important to the collectors but price is quite secondary and they generally have plenty of time. They are also used to a “pay as you” go program. This seems to be a growing market.

For those of you working on older engines with adjustable shaft mount rockers, we have reconditioned rockers assemblies with modified ratios. Some of the applications we have done include 2.8L & 2.9L Ford, Early 318 Chrysler Poly, 235 Chevy, Y-block Ford, Farmall H tractor (with cast rockers only), and 302 GMC. These perform really well when used with our performance cams. These are modified stock rockers and are not intended for serious race applications.

Antique & Factory performance cam catalog

Don’t forget our new catalog devoted to Antique Performance Cams and Factory Performance cams. Call or e-mail for your copy. It is now on our web site.  All cams listed are ground on new castings and include Flathead Fords, all Nailhead Buicks, Poly 318 Chryslers, 56-64 Olds 324, 371 and 394, Y Block Fords, 270 & 302 GMC, and many more. Many of these castings are only available through Camcraft. We prefer to send these via e-mail or download from our web site. Just ask. charles@camcraftcams.com. Be sure to put something appropriate in the subject line, like “Antique cam catalog”, or it may get deleted. They are in Microsoft Excel format.

Remember the thing that sets us apart from the competition is the commitment to help you go faster. We don’t want to have to get new customers for each cam we produce. We depend on repeat business and referrals. We can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear but we can help upgrade your racing program no matter what level you are.

We look forward to helping you upgrade your racing program in 2007.

As always, we thank you for your support.

Yours truly,

Charles, Harriett, Clarence, & Chuck
