Dear Customers, With Speed Week and the Daytona 500 behind us the 2005 racing season is officially underway. While many areas have another month or two before their tracks open, excitement is high and people are preparing for opening day. Despite the questionable economy and the crate motor controversy, everyone in the racing industry seems pretty busy. US-13 Dragway, Delmar, De canceled test & tune due to cold weather the 25th. The high was 53 on Saturday and 37 Sunday. They will open next week. Harriett and I recently attended the Antique Automobile Club Of America annual meeting in Philadelphia on Feb 10th and 11th. We had a booth in their trade show and I did a seminar on How to Increase the Efficiency of Your Antique Engine. The seminar was very well attended. A significant snowstorm was predicted for Saturday afternoon but we managed to pull out as the first flakes fell. We made it home without incident and that night we got 4-8 inches of snow. We stayed in the house Sunday except for a little snow shoveling. Monday was a normal work day. For those of you not seeking out these restoration jobs, you are missing a good thing. Quality is most important to the collectors but price is quite secondary and they generally have plenty of time. This seems to be a growing market. Please note that UPS shipping rates have increased and that the insurance rates have increased even more significantly. Insurance up to several hundred dollars has increased more significantly than higher amounts. Shipping to a residence has always been higher but UPS has been more vigilant in charging back the difference if we ship using business rates. The difference is not always whether you are a business but whether you are in or even adjacent to a residential neighborhood.
