Dear Customers,

With Speed week and the Daytona 500 behind us the 2005 racing season is officially underway. While many areas have another month or two before their tracks open, excitement is high and people are preparing for opening day. Despite the questionable economy and the crate motor controversy, everyone seems pretty busy.

Please note that UPS shipping rates have increased and that the insurance rates have increased even more significantly. Insurance up to several hundred dollars has increased more significantly than higher amounts. Shipping to a residence has always been higher but UPS has been more vigilant in charging back the difference if we ship using business rates. We have noticed it costs more to ship a cam 45 miles to a residence in Delaware than to a business in CT.  The difference is not whether you are a business but whether you are in or even adjacent to a residential neighborhood.

 POR-15 now available from Camcraft

Those of you involved in the restoration of older cars are undoubtedly aware of POR-15 products. They make an amazing rust preventative paint that goes on right over rust and provides an extremely hard coating that actually cures harder in the presence of moisture. It is amazing. There are also related restoration products to complement it like gas tank sealer, top coat paints, engine paints, trunk and floor pan repair kits, body filler and much more. Since I am restoring 2 1964 Oldsmobiles and can use this paint for other things as well, I decided to become a dealer. We are the only dealer on the Delmarva Peninsula and we have a pretty good selection. Call  (410) 822-2122 or (800) 426-2261 to order your Por-15 products today. Free catalogs with every order over $20.00.

 Johnson Lifters

When it comes to lifters, Johnson has been the leader for many years. Their closing several years ago caused a severe shortage in the industry. They have reopened and have 80% of their original employees back, as well as their original casting supplier. We are pleased to be a distributor for this fine product line. As planned, we will have special tray pricing for popular numbers. Call for details. Our prices will be decreased or at least not raised, on many numbers, even in set quantities. The maximum savings is realized with 2-tray quantities drop shipped. We have no free freight provisions, as nothing is really free, but we can use your UPS or Fed Ex shipper number to minimize freight costs by having it billed directly to you. Johnson lifters have been the lifter of choice for decades. Make Johnson lifters your choice for today’s performance engines. Most numbers are available with the direct lube option in tray quantities.

Variable Duration lifters

For years we have offered a variable duration lifter with a moderate bleed down rate. They are especially effective in high performance marine engines and are stock in Mercruiser hi performance applications. We have and still do feel that these lifters are a crutch for wrong cam selection in street applications.

The increase in vacuum rules in oval track racing applications has caused us to take another look at the faster bleed down lifters. They are almost mandatory if you need 15-17 inches of vacuum @ 850 rpm. Even with help from the lifters, it still takes a special cam grind with shorter duration and wider lobe separation to satisfy the rules. We offer 2 new lifters with faster bleed down rates. The first is our R series, which simply features a faster bleed down than our standard VDT lifter. The second is our RM series that features a faster bleed down than the R series but is adjusted to control how much it is allowed to bleed down. These lifters have shown significant power gains on the dyno and on the track. They are especially effective in cars that get down around 3000 to 3500 rpm in the turns or on restarts. There is less loss of lift and duration at higher rpm, as the tuner controls the amount of bleed down. Try these innovative new lifters in your next hydraulic cam application.

I will be spending time with my consultant this month designing some restricted lift profiles. We have been having a lot of call for them lately and we want to have the best.

We look forward to helping you upgrade your racing program in 2005.

Thank you for your continued support.

 Yours truly,

Charles, Harriett, Clarence, Chuck, and Stephanie
