Camcraft Newsletter

Dear Customers,
We are 3 months into 2008 and we have
had a very busy 1st quarter. While most of it is hardcore racing business,
we are also doing a brisk business with our Antique and Factory Performance
Cams as well as regrinding industrial and antique tractor pulling cams. It
will be interesting to see where the economy takes us this year.
I have discovered a useful web site about motor oils & Lubricants. It is a forum called www.bobistheoilguy.com. I only had a brief time to peruse the site but it seemed to have a lot of good information on all types of lubricants. After all the cam failures a few years ago, this is a valuable tool. Check it out.
We have finally found the proper additive to restore the right kind of protection needed for flat tappet cams. It is ZDD+. It has the proper combination of Zinc and Phosphorus to give the scuff protection equivalent to SF oil (Zinc alone doesn’t do it) while retaining the improved quality of the newer oils. It should be part of every oil change in all flat tappet engines and of course is critical in flat tappet race applications. Sales have been brisk & we have it in stock, ready to ship.
Don’t forget to check out our catalogs
for Antique Performance cams and Factory Performance Cams, which uses the
OE part numbers. We cover all the 348-409 Chevy mechanical cams, Nailhead
Buicks, 1949 up Cadillac, FE Fords, 429CJ and SCJ, Ram Air Pontiac and
Oldsmobiles and many more. We are your source for vintage camshafts both
stock and high performance. We can also regrind cams for which there are no
new casting available.
We have said it before and here it is
again. We cannot grind cams with gears on them except D-8 Cats. Many of
those have gears made on the shaft and they are not very big in diameter.
The price to remove gears will not be reasonable and will delay your job at
least a day or two. You wouldn’t send a crank out to be ground with the
flywheel on it so please don’t send your cam with a gear on it. It also
makes it more difficult to package for shipping. Be sure to keep
all
removable parts in your
shop. We don’t want to be responsible for them.
Any Camcraft customer wishing to have a picture of their car or customer’s car on our web site is welcome to send a picture and a brief description to me via e-mail. This includes trucks, tractors, Street rods, anything running a Camcraft cam. Pictures in JIFF or JPEG format are preferred. We will also mention any wins in our newsletter. Information is preferred via e-mail at any time of month. This alleviates any last minute rushing. If you regularly send this information out, you can just add me to your list. We are also looking for track or series champions for our champions list. We mention the engine builders on this list as well.
Those of you involved in the
restoration of older cars are undoubtedly aware of POR-15 products. They
make an amazing rust preventative paint that goes on right over rust and
provides an extremely hard coating that actually cures harder in the
presence of moisture. It is amazing. There are also related restoration
products to complement it like gas tank sealer, top coat paints, engine
paints, trunk and floor pan repair kits, body filler and much more. Call
Camcraft today to order your Por-15 products today. Free catalogs with every
order over $20.00.
If you’re not running a Camcraft cam
You’re probably following one!
