Dear Customers,
Summer is now here. Most schools are closed and all racetracks are open. Warm weather is finally here to stay. Now instead of buying heating oil, we have to pay for all the extra power to run air conditioners and fans.
Harriett and I have been busy painting our boat. Take our advice and DO NOT paint your boat. Strip off all the hardware (not a small task) and pay somebody else to paint it. If you are using top quality paint (we are) every mistake or mishap cost $50.00 or more in materials alone. We had hoped to go on a fishing trip to Cape Charles, VA on Mothers day weekend. We will be lucky to be out by July 1st.
New summer hours
Beginning June 1st we will be closing at 2:00 pm on Fridays. We will work extra hours during the week to make up for the lost time. Since most customers want their parts in hand by Friday this will let us do this more often. It will also give our employees a few extra hours on the weekends to beat heavy traffic out of town or get to the bank. Please advise the appropriate people of this change.
With more favorable feedback on our XTLE profiles, we have ordered the other masters in that series. We now have 238, 242 & 246 duration @.050 with .324 lobe lift. These profiles have 22 degrees of major intensity. They are the most aggressive lobe designs we have ever released and they require very high quality valve springs and good maintenance on the lash. While they will be stable to 7,000+ rpm, they are not intended to go much higher. Lash should be run at .012/.014 or tighter.
Winners;
Greg and Danny Edwards continue to dominate the Late Model class at Langley Speedway in Langley, VA. Out of 6 completed races the Edwards brothers have won 5 with Greg winning 3 and Danny taking the win in 2. Danny’s engine builder is Keen’s Automotive in Smithfield, VA and Gregg’s is Charlie High Racing Engines in Moyock, NC. Charlie High and Jr Keen are long time friends as well as friendly rivals.
Keens also powered Jeff Sampson#8 to 2 wins in the Wolf Truck class while Jason Leftwich set a new track record in the Grand Stock class at Langley Speedway.
Ken Roundtree took his Keen powered #73 Limited Late Model to East Carolina Speedway twice in May and picked up 2 wins
At Stafford Speedway Pettit racing engines powered Frank Roucco #91 to a win in his SK Modified on May 4th and Keith Rocco # 78 to a SK win on the 11th.
